In the early 80's my husband, Ed, served as the pastor of Hiseville Baptist Church. I was a young pastor's wife and Emily befriended me. She would support activities at the Baptist church when they did not interfere with her own church services. Her warm friendship and faith encouraged me during our years of service there and continued through the next twenty plus years. We would exchange Christmas cards and occasional telephone contact. I last spoke with her on July 4th of 2007. I am thankful for both Emily's availability and God's providence in using her to help me to "belong" to this community. Warmly, Sheila Talley

To all the cousins and friends of Em, everyone will miss Em here in this lifetime; however as the young ministers wife wrote of Em~~~she surely described Em as still being the Em I knew back at Hiseville High School and from then on~~~~~truly a great friend. I have known Emily all my life. She has been a good friend to my mother, Betty Byrd Veluzat, since they were friends as girls in Hiseville. My mother misses her as do I. As an adult, I didn't see her much but it was always nice knowing she was there for my mom whether be by phone conversations or rare visits to her new home in Bowling Green. Emily had a great sense of humor and a great love for her friends, family, and her cats. The nicest thing I remember about Emily was the Christmas's we spent at my grandmother and grandfather's house in Hiseville during the 60's-70's as a kid knowing that she would be one of the family friends that would drop by to say hello and share the holiday with us. I have warm thoughts of her great sense of humor, the stories of the great fun this bunch of girls shared during their teen years. I really miss that and she was definitely part of it. It wouldn't have been right if Emily hadn't dropped by for a visit back then!

Emily was my Sunday School teacher and MYF director when I was growing up in the Hiseville Methodist Church. I have fond memories of her and I know she will be missed by many.
