Clyde R. Young
Clyde R. Young, 84, Glasgow, died Thursday, August 20, 2020, at his residence. A lifelong resident of Barren County, he was the son of the late Ora Clyde Young and Bertha Smith Young. After graduating Glasgow High School, Clyde trained as a barber and remained in that profession for most of his adult life. He served four years in the United States Navy on board the USS Essex and had the distinction of going twice around the world. He loved golf and was a par golfer at Glasgow Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church, where he also served as deacon and usher.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Norma J. Young; three children: Todd Young, Stacy Young, and Jonathan Young and his wife Samantha; five grandchildren: Ian Thompson, Alexandra Thompson, Miles Thompson, Logan Young, and Grayson Young; one nephew, Mark Myers; one niece, Julie Myers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Gayle Myers and Judith Young.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday and from 9 to 11 Saturday at the funeral home.
In keeping with the Governor’s recommendations for safety during funeral and memorial services, the number of attendees in the funeral home at any given time will be limited; no food permitted in the lounge; social distancing will be necessary; and face coverings are required.

He had cut my hair for many years and enjoyed talking with him each time. May the Lord wrap his arms around each of you during this sad time. Keeping each of you in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear of Clyde’s passing. He cut my hair up til I left for college. Mom and Dad enjoyed his friendship over the years. He and Clyde loved to play jokes on each other at church all the time. Norma, I will keep and your family in my prayers.
