Clyde Maynard Brown, 79, Glasgow , died Friday, October 29, 2004 , at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A son of the late Shelvy and Delsie Maynard Brown, he was a retired construction worker and truck driver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Frances Frazier Brown.
Mr. Brown was a United States Army Veteran during WW II. He served with the 106th Infantry Division. He was captured December 19, 1944 , in the Battle of the Bulge and was held a Prisoner of War until he was liberated on April 2, 1945 from Stalag 9B at Bad Orb, Germany . Mr. Brown was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include one daughter, Diana Jones and her husband, William, of Hiseville; two sons, Mike “Doc” Brown of Angleton, TX, and Tony Brown and his wife, Sherry, of Glasgow; eleven grandchildren, Jeff, Doug, Chad, Josh and Adam Jones, Lauren, Jason, Alex, Anthony and Travis Brown and Chris Chapman; four great-grandchildren, Ally, Emmi, Ella Cate and Jagger Jones; one sister, Regina Alexander and her husband, Philip, of Glasgow; several nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
