William C. “Bill” Newberry, 86, Glasgow, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green. A native of Pulaski County, he was a son of the late Marshall Blaine Newberry and Rilda Baker Newberry Daugherty. He was a retired lineman for General Telephone; a member of the Singing Seniors for 20 years; and a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Doris; one son, Eddy Newberry and wife Sandy; two grandchildren: Dr. Joey Newberry and wife Karissa, and Ashley Martin and husband J.T.; seven great-grandchildren: Skylar Newberry, Sydney Newberry, Maylin Newberry, Ally Newberry, Lynleigh Martin, Lila Martin, and John Thomas Martin; two sisters: Othella Eggers and Linda Whitaker; three brothers: Daniel Newberry, Rollis Newberry, and Winston Newberry; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven sisters: Verla Hughes, Jackie Hughes, Eunice Stewart, Rosie Glover, Mary Richey, Pauline Burrus, and Elizabeth Newberry; and six brothers: Lloyd Newberry, Bascum Newberry, Ernest Newberry, Edsel Newberry, Brownlow Newberry, and Elmer Newberry.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 pm Saturday and after 9 am Sunday at the funeral home. For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed on facebook at www.facebook.com/hatchersaddler.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
