Jane Gilbert Wells, 90, Happy Valley Road, Glasgow, died Sunday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Shelbyville, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Jane Thompson and Ralph Waldo Emerson Gilbert. The widow of the late L. Rogers Wells, Sr., she was a homemaker, a volunteer with many local organizations, including the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the T. J. Samson Community Hospital and the Glasgow Garden Club and was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include three children, L. Rogers Wells, Jr. of Glasgow, R. Gilbert Wells and his wife, Jane McCormick Wells of Savannah, Georgia; and Julie Wells Allison and her husband, Robert B. Allison of Atlanta; eight grandchildren, Caroline Caldwell Allison, Elizabeth Bolling Allison, Betsy Wells Jones, Jane Lee Wells Nunn, Mary Wells Callahan, Meredith Wells Lepley, Rogers Gilbert Wells and Landon King Wells; eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the T. J. Samson Community Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary or the First Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
