John M. Taylor
John Montague Taylor, Glasgow, KY, entered heaven on June 14, 2022. John was born on February 22, 1939 in Tompkinsville, KY, to the late Stanton and Mae Carter Taylor. He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty years, Jackie Napier Taylor, originally from Celina, Tennessee.
John excelled in scholastics and in sports as a celebrated member of the 1957 Tompkinsville team for the Kentucky state high school basketball championship. After graduating with honors from Western Kentucky with a degree in Business Accounting, John became a revered CPA and established Taylor, Polson and Company CPA firm in Glasgow, KY.
John was known for his love of God, family, friends, and Dale Hollow Lake; unquestionable integrity; dedication to country and community; multifaceted generosity; indefatigable spirit; sense of humor and intricate problem solving abilities. John’s service to others included numerous roles in the Glasgow First United Methodist Church; member of several Bank Boards of Directors; Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, President; National committee of CPAs; Army National Guard Reserves notable serving alongside three brothers; and Finance Chair for the elections of political offices including his uncle, Kentucky Congressional Representative Tim Lee Carter.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by son, John “Tag” Taylor (Molly) and daughter, SaraDianne Taylor Brooks (Mark); four grandchildren: Alex Taylor (Haven), Izzy Taylor of Glasgow, KY, and Meghan and Brenna Taylor of Lexington, KY; great grandsons Knox and Liam of Glasgow, KY; sister Idru Vibbert (Joe) of Louisville, KY; sisters-in-law Shirley Taylor (Jerome) and Patsy Jernigan (James) Gamaliel, KY; brothers-in-law Karl Napier (Maureen) of Glasgow; Denny Napier (Liz) of Crossville, TN; sister-in-law Dianne Napier-Wilson and her husband, John Wilson, of Atlanta; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. John was preceded in death by brothers Joe (Margaret), Jerome, Charles (Joyce), David (Martha) and James Jernigan.
John was always proud to be a by-blood-or-marriage member of what he considered two great families. He was a rare shining role model and will be so missed.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow. Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. Saturday until time for services.
The family requests in memory contributions be made to Glasgow First United Methodist Church, 500 South Green Street, Glasgow, KY 42141, Hospice, or the charity of your choice.

So sorry for your loss Jackie. Knew him well when we were young and then later in life connecting thru Sheldon and Charlie. He was always a joy to be around.
