Virginia “Ginny” Watson

          Virginia Carden Preston Watson (94) of Glasgow, KY passed away Monday, July 22, 2024 at Barren County Nursing and Rehabilitation in Glasgow.  She was born in El Dorado, Arkansas the youngest daughter of the late Leonard Washington and Marilee Lear Preston.  Virginia (Ginny) was the loving wife of the late William Robert (Bob) Watson for over 37 years.  She was also preceded in death by her son William Robert Watson, Jr., her sister, Nancy Preston Larkin of Glasgow, her brothers-in-law Al Church of Hudson, OH, and Joe W. Larkin of Glasgow.

          She enjoyed horses, bridge, golf, and gardening throughout her life.  She was a true force of nature, but a tender hearted soul who believed strongly in the word of God and tried to live her life in a way that was pleasing to Him.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Glasgow, and she attended the Welcome Sunday School Class and the Eva Dean Kemp Circle when she was able.

          She is survived by her son, Robert Preston (R.P.) Watson, and his wife, Melanie, of Glasgow; her granddaughter, Victoria Cecile Watson of Lexington, KY; her sister, Marilyn Preston Church, of Hudson, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews.

          Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service.  There will be no graveside service.

          One of the loves of Virginia’s life was supporting the Kids Hope program at her church as the “Camp Angel”.  This fund was established in 2023 to provide perpetual annual funding to her church’s Kids Hope program to support and send local children to church camp (Camp Loucon) so that they may learn about the love of Jesus and his salvation.  If you would like to make a lasting contribution, make check payable to Blue Grass Community Foundation and write “Ride the Whole Horse Foundation” in the memo line and mail to the following address:
