Shannon Carter

          Shannon Lynn Carter passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024 at her home in Glasgow, KY.  She was born in Louisville, KY on June 6, 1970 to Patty and Mikel “Tony” Goodwin and was raised by Patty and her later husband Joe Hollenkamp in Louisville.  Shannon loved spending as much time as possible with her favorite aunt, Carolyn Carpenter.  In 1992, Shannon met her future husband and love of her life Stewart “Coy” Carter in Louisville where they would share their life, love, and happiness together for over 30 years.

          Shannon worked and excelled in the restaurant/ bar/ management industry for almost 20 years.  She was a people person who would always lend her ear, her heart, and her mind to all causes, big or small.

          Survivors include her husband Stewart “Coy” Carter; her step-daughter Kristina Anderson and her husband Eric; her parents Patty and Joe Hollenkamp; her brother Joe Hollenkamp, Jr.; her sister Jennifer Hollenkamp; and an aunt Carolyn Carpenter.  She was preceded in death by her birth father, Mikel “Tony” Goodwin, along with four uncles.

          A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow.  Immediately following the memorial service, an additional celebration of Shannon’s life will be held at her home in Glasgow.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA or to the Barren River Animal Welfare Association (BRAWA).
