I only met Curtis Sr one time, but he left a long lasting impression on me with his smile, his wit, his strength and his eternal love of his wife. I feel very fortunate to have met him and enjoyed hearing the stories of his music and his friends from his earlier years of bluegrass. He could tell you everyones name and what instrument they played without any hesitation. Curtis’ gift of giving was straight from his heart. His life was an example of what we all should try to pattern after.
My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Burch family and may God bless each of you with His love and comfort.
Truly an American hero. I am grateful for the sacrifices Curtis made for our country and for the Kingdom of God. It has been an honor to know him. May God comfort you.
I sure hated to hear of Uncle Curtis’ passing. May the LORD wrap his arms around each of you at this time. I’m sure the reunion in heaven was an AWESOME one. Until we meet again RIP UNCLE CURTIS

I met Uncle Curt in 1978 and from the first big bear hug and belly laugh, I was hooked. He and Aunt Emma made me and my folks feel like part of the family. So many good times and fond memories…the big snake at the springs in Pineview, picking them up at the airport, visiting in MA and then the best….the surprise visit a few years ago. Nothing could have been better. Gene so enjoyed chatting with Uncle Curt on the phone….telling each other ‘war’ stories and yelling over politics..thank goodness they all agreed. He was a kind soul, giving to others, a strong proud, patriotic man who was loved by so many. I’m going to remember the wedding and cooking for them that day and helping them get dressed, and my favorite vision….Uncle Curt singing “Two Dollar Bill”…at least I think that’s it. We miss him and love him.
I hated to hear about this, I know he will be missed.
Although we have known Mr. Curtis for many years we were only able to spend a limited amout of time with him when he, Miss Emma, Ricky and sometimes Ellie would come to the Armuchee Bluegrass Feastiville. He was indeed a true southern gentleman and always made you feel as though you were the most important person he had ever met. His love of God and country was always apparent in everything he did. I know you are grieving now and we grieve with you in your loss. Mr. Curtis has completed his journey and is now at home and will be waiting to welcome us and tell us stories of what he has seen and heard in Heaven. We love you all very much.
I am so sorry for your loss….both Curtis and his sweet wife was very good people…he will be missed….
I met Curtis, Sr years ago 46 years ago and he was so funny and had the best laugh
I have such wonderful memories of him palying his beloved bluegrass with his boys.
Have been on many a trip with him to music festivals around the country and many a laugh driving home because the tires sounded like banjos and fiddles.
He loved big and huged big. He was one of a kind and will remain in my heart.
I remember once when Cynthia, mine and Curtis, Jr, daughter, was about two years old and big Curt was trying to pick her but she was too busy to be still. A little girl came over and got in big Curt’s lap, Cynthia ran across the room, jumped up there and said ” NO!, This in My Paw Paw” the huge grin across his face I will always remember
He was a wonderful friend, daddy, paw paw, uncle, husband
and his service to our country is to be fully honored
I love you, Curt and I know the Lord has said to you “well done, good and faithful servant”
