Maxine was a sweetheart and Walter and I always enjoyed stopping in and saying hi. May God give you strength as she had a wonderful loving and caring life.
Mrs.Garrett will always be a part of this community, even though she has gone on to a better place. Everyone knew Garrett’s Grocery and whatever you needed, she always had. She was always there bright and early, and late at night. I did not realize we were related ,until she told me. Her grandmother was a Brownfield and my Grandfather was a Brownfield. She was a sweet lady and will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathy.
I always enjoyed talking to Maxine at the store wich was pretty much daily for the last several years, she will be missed by many, thoughts and prayers….
Phillip and family, my prayers and sympathy goes out to you all. I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to come by the funeral home. I didn’t find out about Maxine’s passing until it was too late. Mom and Dad thought so much of your parents. Maxine always had a smile for everyone. May God bless and comfort you during this difficult time.
My deepest sympathy.

Phillip, I am so sorry to hear about Maxine. The store won’t be the same without her. I have known Maxine for about 38 years and she always had a smile on her face when ever anyone walked into the store. There were times when I would call her really late at night and she would always tell me to come on to the store and get what I was needing at the time. She was a true sweetheart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. You and the rest of the family are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you all.
It seems that Maxene and her store have always been a part of my life. My grandfather, Chester Matthews, took me there when I was very young to buy me candy. I still stop at the store today. I always enjoyed visiting with Maxene. She was a very sweet lady. – My mother, Janice Matthews also sends her condolences – she was unable to visit at the funeral home, but she wanted to let the family know that you are in her thoughts.
Phillip & families of Maxine: We are sorry to lose Maxine. She was a wonderful person & we loved stopping at the grocery. We send our sympathy to all of you. Sincerely yours,
We will miss her. Love talking to her in the store. It will not be the same.
