John Luther Byrd, 85, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at his residence. He was the son of the late James Corbitt Byrd and Mattie Estell Edwards Byrd. He was a native of Barren County, retired farmer and active member of Big Meadow Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Leah Margaret Cummins Byrd; one son; Philip Byrd and his wife Martha; one granddaughter: Alisha Wyatt and her husband Jason; one great-grandson: Jared;  one brother: Samuel Byrd of Knob Lick; one sister: Elizabeth Poynter and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his eldest son: Richard Paul Byrd; four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
