Edward A. Smith of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away on January 24, 2013 at his home. Edward was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on February 11, 1953. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1971. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1975 with a B. A. in History and English. He graduated with a M. A. in Human Resources from Webster University in 2001.
After moving to the Louisville area, Edward worked for many years at ProQuest. The last several years he has worked at Kentuckiana Youth Center (Youth Opportunities Unlimited)
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Hilary and Maxie Bush Smith, as well as his beloved Aunt Beatrice Smith and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, Edward would rather you make a contribution to one of his two favorite charities.

Funeral will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 12:00 noon C.S.T. at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. C.S.T. Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be planned later in the Louisville area, where he has resided since 1978.
We are deeply saddened over the death of Edward. We will be attending the service.
Chuck’s and my prayers are with all of you at this time. I thoroughly enjoyed Edward’s sense of humor. He was always such fun to be around. He will be missed.
Edward will be greatly missed among his friends o the Class of 1971. Rest in Peace good friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family/close friends.
Edward and I graduated together in 1971 and I always believed that he was one of the smartest guys in the class. Always friendly and supportive of others, he willl be remembered fondly. Blessings on his family and friends.
Edward was my boss and mentor over the years, but more than that, a dear friend. He always knew what was important to each person in his life and took time to tend to all he knew as unique individuals. Every conversation with Ed contained thoughts about others and questions about how people were doing if he hadn’t seen them in a while. He also made me laugh every time I saw him, and I’ll be always be thankful he was a part of my life and will remain so.
Though I am sorry I can’t be at the service this week, I will be there in my heart.
Edward was a kind and caring friend. I will remember him for his intelligence and his ability to make his friends laugh. He gave of himself whenever he could and he will be missed.
Edward will be sorely missed at the Clark Co YMCA. We counted on him for so many laughs, recipes, and good conversation. He is one of the best people I have ever known and will miss him so dearly.
I am very saddened to learn of the death of Edward. He was such a kind, sweet and caring gentleman. Edward was a special person and I will miss him very much in our water aerobics classes at the YMCA. My prayers are with his family and friends.
