Stephen- so sorry to read of Mr. Delk. Remembering the good times we all had at Glas. Rec. Dept., esp. during the tennis tournaments, him worrying about everything going smoothly. And you could pretty much count on it raining at some point during the tourney and Wa-Wa rushing us girls out on the courts as soon as the rain stopped, to get them rolled dry so the players could commence again. He was a good man. Loved his humor. May God Bless the family.

  10. Jim Atwell says:

  11. Bruce Wilson says:

I remember Mr Delk as a friend from way back. His passing braught tears to my eyes. I grew up next door to the Delks. Stephen I remeber you since you were just a baby. Your mom and dad were both dear to me.

Your dad was my science teacher when I was a freshman in highschool. He taght me how to play tennis and to shoot a bow and arrow at the park during my summer vacations. He gave me rides home from school every afternoon and to this day I still remember the pointers he would give about driving. He never gave advice because he was a know it all, but because he truly thought a lot of people and he wanted to pass a little bit on to the the next person in anyway that he could.

I hope I don’t hurt anyone’s feelings, but in my day he was never refered to as “Wa Wa”. The only time that was done was from behind his back and from a far and it was only done out of disrespect. I knew Mr Delk in all walks of his life and I only knew him respectfully as Mr Delk or Bill.

Rest In Peace Good Friend, Till we meet again.

I hope I don’t hurt anyone’s feelings; but, “Mr Delk” was the name all the students and young people of my generation (1970s), called William M. Delk. His adult friends, such as the staf at the school, would call him Bill. No one ever called him “wa wa” unless it was somebody who was trying to be direspectfull and they usually done it at the opposite end of the hall from where Mr Delk was at, where theybcouldn’t be seen and at the top of their voice. He was Mr Delk to me then and he will always be Mr Delk in my heart.

    Rest In Peace Good Friend
