Bernice Mae Coomer, 97, of Hiseville passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at her home. She was born on May 1, 1918 to the late Coy and Mary Thompson Atwell. Bernice was a devoted, lifelong member of the Coral Hill Baptist Church.

She was the loving mother of 10 children: Ken Coomer of Clarksville, Indiana; Jo Anne Gooden of Louisville; Mike Coomer, Tim Coomer and his wife Cherri, and Teresa London and her husband Randy of Hiseville; Judy Gossom and Vickie Mosby of Glasgow; Phil Coomer and his wife Sharon of Bowling Green; Kathy Pollak of Vacaville, California. Other survivors include a son-in-law, Charles Hanking; a sister-in-law, Frances Brown; 24 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence Coomer, in 1985, a daughter, Lorene Hanking, in 2013, and a granddaughter, Rhonda Jo Gooden, in 1971; along with one brother: James Atwell; and three sisters: Elizabeth Floyd, Mary Francis Pedigo, and Virginia Donaldson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Coral Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 3260 Coral Hill Road, Glasgow, KY 42141, or to a charity of your choice.
