Vernolean Gordon Atnip, 87, Glasgow, died Sunday, September 1, 2002, at the Glasgow Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late George Dibbrel Gordon and Ruth Ferguson Gordon and the widow of the late Vernon J. Atnip. A life-long member of the Glasgow Baptist Church, she was a beautician and operated Vernolean’s Beauty Shop for many years. She enjoyed nature and leaves behind a legacy of meticulously hand-painted china reflecting the beauty of her visions.
Survivors include one son, Eddie Atnip and his wife, Alice (Willie); two granddaughters, Kathy Atnip and Allison Atnip Chambers all of Glasgow; one brother, Carlos E. Gordon of Franklin.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2002, at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
