Leon Hanson, 78, Hiseville, died Tuesday at the University of Louisville Hospital. A son of the late Ethel Elizabeth Cutliff and Arthur Earl Hanson, he was a retired farmer, a member of the Hiseville Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Before moving to the Hiseville area, he was an active farmer on land which is now a part of Mammoth Cave National Park.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; one son, Steve Hanson and his wife, Marsha, of Glasgow; one daughter, Debbie Smith and her husband, Jerry, of Louisville; five grandchildren, Stephanie Hanson, Holli Hanson, Erin Simpson, Chris Lile and wife, Bridgette, and Brian Smith; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Lile and Andrew Lile; one brother, Dick Hanson of Cave City; three sisters, Angie Gibbons of Shepherdsville, Doretha Bensenhaver and husband, Charles, of Louisville, Alberta Lafferty of Glasgow; a sister-in-law, Ruth Martin Gray and husband, Kenneth, of Glasgow; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, including Charles Lewis Hanson, Olin Hanson and Frances Hanson; and one sister-in-law, Runell Broady and husband, Bronston.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Locust Grove Cemetery at Mammoth Cave. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
