Edward Paul Zapatka, 79, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Bowling Green died at 10 am Jan. 7, 2005 at TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow, KY.


The Hartford CT native was a real estate developer who established the Bowling Green, Lincoln(Owensboro) and Paducah Malls, and multiple restaurants, ultimately leading to the establishment of his own restaurant consultancy business in Florida.


He served as a combat Marine for four years during World War II.

His greatest passions were fishing, music (especially playing the guitar)
and most recently computer technology.


Edward is survived by his loving wife, Jerry Reece Zapatka, three sons,
Edward Jr. of Bedford Heights, Ohio; Ray and his wife Laura of Carol
Stream, IL; Lee of Santa Ana Heights, CA; and a daughter, Jenny
Kieswetter and her husband Bob; three grandsons, Steven Zapatka;
Robert and Chad Kieswetter and one great-grandson, Ryan Kieswetter.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Martha, a brother, Joseph; and son Gary.


A memorial Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at a later date and there will be no visitation. To honor Mr. Zapatka the family requests donations be made to the Lenis Reece College Scholarship Fund, College Heights Foundation, Western Kentucky University, 1 Big Way, Bowling Green Kentucky 42101-3576.
