Ruth Read Withers, 99, long time resident of Bowling Green, died Thursday, November 16, 2006, at the NHC Health Care Center in Glasgow. A native of Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Alice Cain Read. A homemaker, she was also a sitter for numerous children in Bowling Green and a member of The Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Judy Norman High of Glasgow.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Withers; three sisters, Lillian Wooldridge, Pearl Carrier and Mamie Lee Smith; six brothers, Carl Read, Herbert Read, Lawrence Read, Horace Read, Alvin Read and Stanley Read.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at The Presbyterian Church, 1003 State St., Bowling Green with a service of remembrance to follow. Private burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Presbyterian Church or a favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
