Irving, Texas—Roena Fant Dearing, 91, formerly of Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007, after a long illness.
Roena Fant Dearing, daughter of Fielding Jewell Fant and Helen Butler Fant, was born at Finney on May 24, 1915. She was united in marriage to Murrel Taylor Dearing on Dec. 28, 1936, and this union lasted for 51 years until the death of Murrel.
Roena was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and she taught in the Barren County and Glasgow schools for over 40 years. She retired in 1980. For many years, Roena was a member of the South Green Street Church of Christ in Glasgow. She loved to play all sports, especially golf. She was a member of the Glasgow Country Club until she moved to Texas.
Roena is survived by her children, Elizabeth Ann Dearing Wallace (Irving, Texas), and Larry Fant Dearing (Bowling Green); a grandson, Gregory Paul Wallace (Dallas, Texas); granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Shannon Dearing Warner and Dr. Rick Warner (Charleston, S.C.); great-grandchildren, Grant Warner, Seth Warner and Lendsey Warner (all of Charleston, S.C.); a sister and brother-in-law, Jane Fant Shaw and John P. Shaw (Lincoln, Neb.); sisters-in-law, Ethel Flowers Fant (Glasgow), Mary Meadows Fant (Newark, Ohio); and nieces and nephews too numerous to include here.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. and a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007, at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow. Burial will be in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be given to the American Heart Association.
