David Lawrence Ballard, 74, Griderville, died Monday, November 10, 2008, at the University of Louisville Hospital. A native of Indiana, he was a son of the late William Robert Ballard, Sr. and Thelma Zachary Ballard. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict era and had worked in the insurance industry for 40 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Hiseville Lodge # 787 F. & A. M., Valley of Louisville Orient of Kentucky and the Hiseville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marietta; two sons, David Ross Ballard of Nashville and Chuck Ballard and his wife, Lisa Crabtree Ballard of Louisville; one granddaughter, Erin Nicole Ballard of Cincinnati; 2 nieces and 1 nephew of Indiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William R. Ballard, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted by the Hiseville Lodge 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Hiseville United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
