Robert Carter Reece
March 27, 1918 ~ June 5, 2010
Robert Carter Reece, 92, Glasgow, died Saturday, June 05, 2010, in Glasgow. A native of Adair County, Carter was a son of the late Lenis and Annie Lee Strange Reece. He was a WW II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Southern Command; a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service; a former member of the Glasgow City Council; a member of the First Christian Church, where he had served as Deacon and Church Treasurer and was also a member of the Coombs-Dickinson Sunday School Class and a former member of the Sanctuary Choir.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Farrell (Fran) of California; one son, Bob Reece (Judy) of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Ashley Eder (Matthias) of Colorado, Philip Thornton of Arizona and Jennifer Reece of Louisville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carter was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Henne Reece, who preceded him in death in March, 2010; one brother, Morris “Chick” Reece and seven sisters, Edna Erwin, Jessie Vestal, Helen Barbour, Roselle Moran, Billie Ann Bradshaw, Jerry Zapatka and Jackie Crenshaw.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the First Christian Church.

I am so sorry to see the passing of your father, so soon after your Mom. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you, as I understand your pain, having lost Ralph and Mom within two months of each other. I have fond memories of our years growing up as neighbors. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Sorry to hear about your loss, I remember him and Evelyn coming into Traveler’s, he was a very special guy. I know he will be missed, may you find comfort in the arms of Jesus.
