Billy John (Pop) Napier

Billy John (Pop) Napier, 87, of Glasgow died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his residence. He was the son of the late John and Dovie Louise Harvey Napier. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II. He had three years total active service in the US Army and was honorable discharged at the rank of Private and was very proud to have served his country. Bill won five battle stars and was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal for “distinguishing himself by heroic achievement” in December 1944 in connection with military action against Germany. Bill was a loyal employee at Sorenson’s Mfg. in Glasgow for 30 plus years.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Gary David Napier, Loretta Springer (Jerry), Stephen Napier, Jackie Napier (Shirley), and Laura Castell (Randy) all of Glasgow; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen Great Grandchildren; two Great-Great Grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Phyllis (Mama Phyllis) Dixine Napier; a half sister: Ruth Taylor; two grandchildren: Zachary Todd Napier and Stacey Flowers.
Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral with Bro. Paul Davidson officiating. Burial will be in the Beaumont Cemetery. Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will provided military honors at the cemetery. Visitation will be after 1:00 P.M. Friday.
BILLY WAS A GREAT MAN. I FEEL FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH HIM AT SORENSEN. HE WILL BE MISSED . GOD BLESS
