Dear Joyce, We are shocked and saddened to hear of Doug’s passing. I’ll always remember his friendly smile and his possitive attitude during rehab. He always would go out of his wayto give you a helping hand. He had a way of making you feel special. We so enjoyed the time we were able have dinner with you and Doug. You and your family are in our prayers. Please stay in touch.

Dear Joyce and family, We are so sad for the loss of your wonderful husband and our wonderful friend Doug. We have been so fortunate to have gotten so close to you both . It is such a loss to our transplant family. This is so hard to write for so many reasons, so many great memories and we are sad that we are not with you to comfort you. I just found out a couple of hours ago. Greg called me at work very upset . We wish we were there with you. Please know that we are there with you in spirit along with all of our other transplant friends. We are family, PLEASE let us know if we can do anything for you. We love you Joyce. Doug will be smiling down on us all for many years to come. He was a little angel on this earth that brought such joy to others. Greg and I are better people for knowing the both of you. Hugs-Mariesa and Greg
Joyce, Janet and Paula – you know that Doug and Ed are up to something together right now and I know that Ed was standing there welcoming Doug with open arms and much love right beside Jesus. Peace, Grace, Love and Hugs, Brenda
Dear Joyce,
We just read the e-mail about Doug’s death and are heart broken. Being part of a lung transplant family , is a special thing and when something happens to one of us, it is felt by all. Doug was certainly a leader of our group and always had time to encourage anyone who was having a bad day , which we all experinced at one time or another. He could go around the track with his walker faster than most of us could go without one and he always had something positive to say.
We all knew that we were taking a risk with our transplant but Doug and I both agreed that it was the right thing to do. We knew there would be “bumps” along the way, and I can hear his christain belief right now saying that when God called him , he would be ready to go.
While small in size , he was a true “Kentucky Gentleman” and a giant of a man who loved his family and his God. We should be thankful of the many happy memories each of has about Doug and I am sure he is making heaven a better place for everyone there and is preparing a place for each of us. You are in are hearts ans prayers. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you.
Love:
Mary and Johnny Jordan
Dear Joyce
Ray and I are so sorry for your loss. The passing of Doug is a heart felt loss to the whole transplant family, he will be greatly missed. For only knowing Doug and you a short time you always made us feel comfortable and inspired. Doug’s nickname as the” steamroller” still provides a CAN DO attitude for all who were lucky enough to know him.
Our prayers are with you and we’ll be in touch.
Love Ray and Donna
Dear Joyce,
David and I are so sorry about the passing of Doug. You were such great neighbors at Wyndemere. I will never forget how sweet you guys were – Doug even offering to come down and mow our grass when David hadn’t got to it. Please know that you and your family are in our prayers. If we can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to call on us.

Dear Joyce and family,
We are sad for your loss but happy that God allowed our paths to cross. There is a bond from our Transplant family like no other. Prayers go up for you now and for the days to come but I hope you can find comfort in knowing the lives that Doug has touched. He was an inspiration to everyone he met. I will NEVER forget him telling me before Transplant… If I have the transplant or not….I’m a winner either way because if I don’t make it, I will be with Jesus. Today Doug is with his Lord and Savior. And of ALL the things we can say about life, where we spend eternity, THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT.
(2 Timothy 4:6-22) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
May God continue to Bless you and your family.
Love,
Jean Carole Parker and family
Paula & family,

Joyce and all family.
Deepest condolences. I am so sorry for your loss. I am crushed to lose my sweet uncle Doug. I have so many fond memories of him. I think he might have been the sweetest man on earth. I’ll never forget when he took me out on the farm on horseback, into the woods, so I could photograph.
I loved him dearly.
I hope you’re all managing okay.
Love to you all.
Debra
Joyce,
Benny and I were devasted to hear about Doug. We just heard yesterday (Wednesday) and we are so very sorry for your loss. We truly wanted to be there for you, but had no idea. We are so thankful that we were able to eat with both of you two weeks ago. We have enjoyed every minute spent with the two of you. Thank you for making me (Vickie) feel so welcome here, you took me right in even though you had never met me, and for that, you both will always hold a very special place in my heart. We are keeping you and the girls in our prayers, but if there is anything that we can do for you please let us know. Our prayer for you now is that God comfort you and keep you safe in His loving arms. Bless you and your family.
In Christ,
Benny and Vickie

Joyce,
I am so sorry to hear about Doug my heart hurts so much words just can’t explain the extreme sadness I feel over the loss of a truly dear friend. Stan and I were talking about him just the other day…… I just don’t know what to say. He was always so inspirational at the CFL and all the numerous hospital visits and support both you and Doug have given to Stan and I will always be remembered by us. I feel really lucky to have met such wonderful people as you two Doug will be greatly missed!! We love you Joyce and want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
