Wayne “Bull” Branham, 67, former homicide detective with the Jefferson County Police Department (JCPD), current Barren County Deputy Sheriff, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at University of Louisville Hospital. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Herbert and Thelma Bush Branham.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; five children, Kevin (Anita) Branham of Auburn, Gary (Laura) Branham and Mark (Angela) Branham all of Shepherdsville, Lennea (Tony) Wooten and Leslie Branham (Patrick Lee) all of Glasgow; six grandchildren, Kristi (David) Jordan, Cody Wooten, Kayla Wooten, Michael Branham, McKenze Branham and Gracey Branham; one brother, Larry (Kathy) Branham of Frankfort; one sister, Anita Branham of Bowling Green.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association.

    Just wanted to let you know that Wayne will be so missed. I feel honored and blessed to have known him. He was a wonderful person. He made almost everyone he met smile. I worked with Wayne at the courthouse. It just won’t be the same without out him. Hope you will find some comfort knowing how much he meant to everyone. Keep those memories close to your heart.     My wife and I would like to express our sincere condolences on the passing of Wayne. “Bull” and I worked together for many years on the JCPD and fished many hours together in the FOP bass tournaments. He kept me laughing most of the time. He was truly one of the good guys and will be sorely missed. Our prayers are with you and your family.
