Sorry to here about Wayne , are thought are with yall and if you need anything let us know
My heat felt condolence to those who loved Wayne. Wayne was in his time a modern day walking tall. When he was a Kentucky State Trooper he would fight one or seven and when it was all over they would all go to jail. After he resigned from the State Police he was a Jefferson county police where he became a Homicide Detective.
I spent twenty seven years on the job In Kentucky, Florida, Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo and the Federal Government Trooper Branham was one of the best police officers I ever knew
.
Wayne and men Like Bobby Dennis, Dave Butler, And Billy Troutwine set the standard of what a police Officer should do when the stuff hits the fan. As we morn his death let us also thank god he lived. He made a difference in this old world. He will be sorely missed

BARREN CO HAS LOST A GREAT MAN!! MAY GOD BE WITH YOU ALL DURING THIS TIME OF SORROW..
There are not many people that I look up to, but Wayne was one of them. While working together at the Sheriff’s Department, I grasped onto him like a sponge. I noticed Wayne had something special. It was easy for Wayne to build rapport with people we dealt with in the law enforcement community. He had a special way about him and always knew the right thing to say. He was handy to have around during a tight situation also. If trouble broke out, you knew Wayne would be there with you until the end. Wayne also had a very cunning personality. He would make me laugh until I would cry. He did this many different times. I know that Wayne will be missed by many. He was truly one of the best people I have ever known.

Gary and Laura,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys, very sorry for your loss. Let me know of anything that we can do for you all.
I was a mere teenager working at a gas station in what is now know as Hillview, Kentucky (Bullitt County) in the 60’s and knew Wayne as a Kentucky State Trooper. He was the one who inspired me to become a police officer from my knowing him as he stopped in for gas for his cruiser from time to time. There was a call nearby my location of a man with a gun. Wayne responded to that call. As he got to that location as per my understanding, he approached a man sitting in a car holding a sawed off shotgun pointing it out of his window of the car, wiping it with a cloth. Wayne ordered the man to put down the gun and step outside his car. Somehow the man lunged at Wayne with the shotgun, whereas Wayne reacted by slapping the man with his lead sap and took him into custody. I remember thinking what a man Wayne was for using this tactic instead of his firearm.
This man had just shot the pay phone off the side of the business building which resulted into the complaint of a man with a gun call. Back then, as always and is still presently day, we all need a hero to look up to.
Wayne was my hero in the 60’s!!!! Throughout my law enforcement experience, I just hope that I was half the man that Wayne Branham was. Over the years, I often thought of Wayne and wondered what had ever happened to him. I never knew he was from Glasgow or that he had returned to that area. My mom also was from Glasgow. RIP Wayne, when it comes to walking tall, I am sured that Buford Pusser could have taken some lessons from you.
Bull was a great guy and you couldn’t ask for a better person to work with , he will be missed by all his friends and relatives, my prayers & thoughts are with his family.
RIP my friend.

My thoughts and prayers are with Donna and family. I think there are many of us who will never forget the 70s and the close knit Homicide family of the JCPD. I remember when I first met Wayne and everyone called him “Bull”. I thought, how can I call this man “Bull”…but it did not take long to figure out why he had this name. He was truly a big man…and in the nicest way. Sorry I lost touch with the Branhams over the years. RIP “Bull” Branham.
Lennea & Tony-I am very sorry to hear about your dad passing, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
We are sorry to hear of the passing of “Bull”. Our prayers will be with the family. We have fond memories of “Bull” from JCPD.
RIP Wayne
