Myrtle Jane York Wylie, 68, Edmonton, died Monday, May 30, 2011, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. A native of Edmonson County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Doris Way Johnson. She was a retired cook and was a former gospel singer with The Troubadours.
Survivors include three children, Denise Alexander (Danny Keyes), Jason Cowles (Laura), and Leandra Wildman (Eric); special friend, Kenneth Wheldon Edwards; 8 grandchildren, Donald Lee Abney, Jr., George Kenneth Abney, Michael Ray Abney, Nathaniel Wayne Cowles, Kenneth Jason Cowles, James Clay Sharer, Donovan Michael Wahl, and Dachia Ruth Sharer; one step-grandson, Dakota Ash; one brother, Shelby Johnson; one sister-in-law, Charlene Johnson; 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Eugene York and Calvin Wylie.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the New Salem Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
