Velma S. Nichols
November 2, 1920 ~ June 25, 2013
Velma Steen Nichols, 92, Glasgow, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Emma Anderson Steen. She was a retired salesperson and Branch Manager for Stanley Home Products and was a member of First Christian Church of Glasgow.
Survivors include one daughter: Jo-Ann Tolle of Glasgow; one son: Wayne “Doc” Nichols and his wife Susan of Glasgow; five grandchildren: Steve LaForge and his wife Deb; Cindy Greer and her husband Bobby; Julie Nichols Ashmun and her husband Matt; Mark Nichols and his wife Shelby; Polly Nichols Guffey and her husband Matt; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joe E. Nichols; her son-in-law, James Tolle; one sister, Ruth Winn; two brothers, Charles Steen and Lawrence Steen.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First Christian Church or BRAWA.
So sorry for the loss of Ms. Nichols. I will miss her. We had some sweet visits and talked a lot about her Sadie. Sadie is still with me, and I will continue to care for her ,and always refer to her as Ms.. Nichols dog.
