I have known Bobby since we were in the first grade. He was an exceptional person all his life. He was loved by all of his teachers, coaches, team members, and his classmates. His sense of humor was delightful, his compassion was honest and his humility was admired. Our eighth grade teacher, Ms. Hela Bowman, would never allow anything to interrupt her class, until Bobby was pitching one day. She allowed the class to stand at the classroom window and watch as Bobby pitched. Bobby will be missed but we are so glad to have known him and the wonderful memories he has left all of us. Knowing him was a blessing to us and Mary was truly a blessing to him. He loved his Mary and family and always had wonderful things to say about all of them. Mary, you are in our prayers.

One of my earliest memories was going to Bob’s fathers old standard oil stations and walking around the grease pit and falling in the pit and into a bucket filled with grease. I was with my father and needless to say he was not happy, I remember Bob playing all sports at Tompkinsville High School and he excelled in all of them, I especially remember the time Bob and two of my older
brothers( Joe and Jerome) that were on the same team, came to Glasgow in 1952 and won the football game 28 to 14 I am sorry that I did not get to spend more time with him, He will be missed by many both here in Glasgow-Barren County as well as Tompkinsville-Monroe county
but his loss here is Heaven’s gain Thanks for the memories Bob

Love you all, You have my prayers that God gives you the strength daily to accept what we can not change. God has chosen a precious man to be with Him.
I was very sad to hear of the passing of Bob Poland, I had the pleasure of knowing him for over 10 years. He played such an important but understated role in my education, he was responsible for getting to and from school. Each day I knew I would be welcomed with a smile and a warm greeting even after he had to wait an extra minute for me to run from the end of the street because I overslept. Even after I graduated high school and went to college it was always exciting for me to pick my nieces and nephew up from the same bus stop and briefly speak to Bob. He would always ask how my classes were going and reassure me of my future success. Thank you Bob for being there every morning and afternoon and making sure we arrived home safely.
Jeff, Jerry and the Poland family. We are so so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. We knew he was ill and had been for some time. However, that doesn’t make it any easier to let go. We pray that precious memories of your Dad bring you comfort, and know that he is rejoicing in the Celestial Palace, and suffers no more. Love to you all.
Chloe
I’m thinking of you.

Terri – so sorry about the loss of your Dad. I know you and your family have had a really hard time. I am just now checking my e-mail and did not know about it. I will keep your family in my prayers today and in the weeks to come. God is all powerful and knows our circumstances. He is the comforter, counselor, and friend. Love ya – Marsha
