James Edison Hughes

November 18, 1935     ~     March 9, 2015

James Edison Hughes, 79, Fountain Run, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015, at his residence. Born in Fountain Run on November 18, 1935, he was the son of the late Lilburn Edison Hughes and Loys Johnson Hughes.

James was a U. S. Army veteran, having served in Germany. He has been a funeral director and embalmer for the past 60 years and was the former owner of Hughes Funeral Home in Fountain Run. James has served on the Fountain Run Cemetery Committee since its beginning and has been a life-long farmer.

Survivors include his wife Linda Swindle Hughes; two daughters: Connie Hughes Goodman and her husband Howard, and Leigh Hughes Costello and her husband Wesley; four grandchildren: Kaleb Shipley, Ralston Shipley, Grace Costello, and Allie Costello; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Martha Howard.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Fountain Run Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Fountain Run Cemetery. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
