Gene Simpson

Bernal Eugene (Gene) Simpson, 88, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, at his home. Gene was born Sept. 13, 1933, in Cumberland County, a son of the late Dora Garner Simpson and D.B. Simpson. He worked in construction and loved fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his daughters, Jeanie Simpson, of Middleton, Wis., Teresa (York) Nunn, of Glasgow, Karen (John) Potter, of Bowling Green, Dana (Dewayne) Decker, of Glasgow, and Lisa Simpson Strange, of Glasgow; a son, Glen Simpson; eight grandchildren, Joel Robertson, Jennie Rodgers and Mary Helen Nunn, Josh and Jarrad Garrett and Molly Turner, Kat Strange, and Ashley Tabor; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Rose Simpson and Fina Simpson; the mother of his children, Helen Simpson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a very special friend, Lois Sweitzer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Willard (Lou Ann) Simpson, Ernest Simpson, Robert (Ida Belle) Simpson, Max Simpson, Morris Simpson, Earleen (Eddie Cecil) Scott and Norma (Paul) McKinney.
He chose cremation. A memorial graveside service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Burkesville Cemetery. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Barren River Rod & Gun Club or Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Foundation.
