Jack London
James Jackson “Jack” London of Hiseville died Wednesday March 29, 2023 at the Shanti Niketan Hospice House in Glasgow, KY. Born August 24, 1933 to Otis London and Eliza Edwards London, he spent the entirety of his 89 year life in the Hiseville Community.
Jack was extremely well-known in our community due in part to his long banking career with Hiseville Deposit Bank, New Farmers National Bank and South Central Bank, managing locations in Hiseville, Cave City and Park City. He spent his career working to help others build the life that they dreamed. He would let it be known that his love for God and family far surpassed any worldly achievements. On February 27, 1954, Jack married his Hiseville High School Sweetheart, the late Katherine Hughes London (who preceded in death on January 6, 2022) and began a family and farming operation that he loved dearly and would expand greatly throughout his life.
He is survived by son Randy, wife Teresa of Hiseville; daughter Faye Holley, husband Steve of Crestwood, KY, daughter in-law Dee Dee London-Komar of Hiseville and is predeceased by son Gary. Pa is also survived by seven grandchildren, Lori Stephens (Todd), Matthew London, (Betsy), Amanda Fry (Branden), Sheena Humphrey (Keith), Brooke Glass (Matt), Emily Mitchell (AJ) and Ashley Lawler (Dakota) and 14 great grandchildren.
Three brothers precede Jack in death including Stanley, Paul and Ray London. He is survived by brother Roy London and was Uncle Jack to many nieces and nephews. Jack was a member of South Green St Church of Christ for the last several years after decades serving as a deacon at Coral Hill Church of Christ.
In retirement Jack spent several years continuing to work with his sons on the family dairy and tobacco farm and playing checkers in Hiseville. Jack also continued his long-standing service to the community as Chair of the Green River Water District Board and with the Horse Cave Rotary Club. In desire to continue service to his community, at age 80, Jack was elected and served a term as a Barren Co Magistrate of the 4th District in 2014. In recent years, Jack was recognized by the communities he spent a lifetime serving. First by the Cave City Chamber of Commerce in 2015 and in 2019 by the Glasgow Barren County Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year.
For generations Jack was sought out for advice and counsel by many, in all walks of life. His willingness and desire to help others any way he could to better themselves demonstrated the caring neighbor and confidant he was. He will be missed by those who loved him and called him friend.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 7, 2023, 11AM. Visitation will begin Thursday, April 6 11 AM and prior to the service on Friday, all at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, Glasgow, KY.
