Darrell Perkins
Darrell Glenn Perkins, age 65, of Smiths Grove, KY, passed away on Thursday, August 17th at Barren County Nursing and Rehab. Born in Louisville, KY on July 26, 1958, he was the son of the late Rondal “Red” and Dorothy Bray Perkins.
A proud 1976 graduate of Metcalfe County High School, Darrell’s life was marked by his passions and achievements. He was an avid golfer, treasuring every moment on the greens. He carried the spirit of the University of Kentucky Wildcats in his heart, cheering for them come rain or shine. A member of Ducks Unlimited, Darrell’s love for nature extended to fishing and hunting. Even in the quiet of his home, one could find him immersed in the tales of the Old West, watching westerns.
Professionally, he dedicated years of service as an employee of Kentucky Pants #2, Sumitomo, and Dart. In his later years, he generously gave his time as a volunteer at Park Avenue Pharmacy. Upon retiring at the age of 62, Darrell embraced the joys of spending quality time with family and, of course, more golfing.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories, survived by his sister, Rita (Greg) of Glasgow, KY; niece, Shawna (Thom) Felkins of Lexington, KY; nephew, Cameron (Mollie) Felkins and great-nephew, Miller Lane Felkins of Glasgow, KY; uncle, Jesse (Carole) Bray of Manchester, TN; aunts, Linda Bray of Glasgow, KY and Robbie Jo Perkins of Spokane, WA; as well as several cherished cousins and friends.
Alongside his parents and loving grandparents, Darrell was preceded in death by his uncle, William Paul Bray.
His life was full of dedication, passion, and love. Darrell Glenn Perkins will be remembered not just for his achievements but for the warmth, laughter, and happiness he brought into the lives of everyone he knew. The memories he has left behind will be cherished and celebrated by all who had the privilege to know him.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
I am so sorry for your loss.. Prayers for the entire family.
