Ella Watha Wood

Ella Watha Wood, 89, of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at her residence.  She was a daughter of the late Elgin “Doc” Barrett and Nettie Steenbergen Barrett.

Watha was a retired USDA employee with 32 years of service at the ASCS office as a program technician. After retirement, she served on the Southern States Advisory Board and the Barren County Committee for several years. She served her church, Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, as the clerk for 13 years. She was well-known for her excellent cooking and quilt making.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years: Gale Wood; one daughter: Denise Billingsley; two grandchildren: Barrett Billingsley (Bailey) and Caroline Billingsley; two great-grandsons: Boone Austin Billingsley and Bear Dallas Billingsley; two brothers: Robert P. Barrett (Dee) and Rommie Barrett (Suzette); one sister and devoted care giver: Peggy Barrett; one sister-in-law: Linda Judkins (Dale). Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother: Rondall Terry Barrett; one brother-in-law: David Wood. Funeral will be 2:00 pm Sunday,  December 3, 2023 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saturday and after 8:00 am Sunday until time for services.  Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to the Chapman Family Cemetery c/o Joe Fendell 1107 Lee Fendell Road Cave City, Kentucky  42127.
