Mickey L. King

          Mickey L. King, 75, Griderville, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024 at Shanti Niketan Hospice Home in Glasgow.  A native of Barren County, he was the son of the late Ernest Wilburn King and Mattie Lee Montgomery King Allen.

          Mickey graduated from Hiseville High School in 1966.  He attended Western Kentucky University and graduated from United Electronics Institute of Louisville.  In 1971, he went to work for Bell South / AT&T in Bowling Green and retired after a 40 year career with the phone company.  His parents operated a well-known grocery store at Griderville and his love of the farm there was always a part of him.  Many retirement days were spent doing the things he loved most.  He was a gifted woodworker; he made and created many unique items.  He was a lifelong member of the Hiseville Baptist Church.

          Survivors include his wife Ann; one son, Grant; two step-brothers: John Allen and Joe Allen; several cousins and dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his step-father Jack Allen.

          The family wishes to thank the members of T J Samson Skilled Care, Home Health, Palliative Care, and Shanti Niketan Hospice Home for their excellent care.

          Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery.  Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and on Sunday after 9:00 a.m. until time for the service.

    Mickey was a very friendly man anytime he seen you he would always say hello and shake your hand. Plus he made the best home made ice cream. Mickey will be greatly missed.
