G A Hawkins

          George Amon “ G A” Hawkins, Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the Shanti Niketan Hospice Center, Glasgow, KY.  Born in Edmonson County, he was the son of the late Irving Hawkins and Polly Britt Renfrow and step-father, Homer Keith.

          G A was an Industrial Engineer at the former Sorensen’s Manufacturing Company in Glasgow.  He was also a Grade A Dairy Farmer in the Park City-Bon Ayr community before retiring and moving to Glasgow.  He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.  After the death of his wife, G A resided at Highland Ridge in Glasgow and enjoyed “porch sitting” with his neighbors.

          Survivors include two sons: Kenneth Hawkins (Charlotte), and Kelven Hawkins (Kim) all of Glasgow; four grandchildren: Kellie Shelton (Justin), Glasgow; Klint Hawkins (Natalie), Lucas; Lisa Hawkins, St. Petersburg, FL; Krista Finch (John) Oakland; one sister, Runell Kinser (Mickey) of Bowling Green; along with six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Martin Hawkins.

          Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to BRAWA or Shanti Niketan Hospice Center in Glasgow.
