Cora Edwards Bradford

Cora Genette Edwards Williams Bradford age 97, Glasgow, Ky. passed away Sunday January 5, 2025 at NHC Rehab.  She was born on the Goodman Farm in Barren County to the late George Bruce Edwards and Zora Hazel Bowles Edwards.  Cora worked hard all her life working on the farm, raising 3 children and becoming both mother and father when her husband Harry Woodrow Williams passed away at an early age of 33 in January 1960.  Cora worked at J.J Newberrys while still in High School and for Milzie Elmore Real Estate, all while farming.  After her husband Harry passed away she went back to work at Kiddie Town when her youngest son started school at Eastern Elementary.  She was always present at PTA meetings and an officer in the PTA program.  Cora went on to work at Clyde Martins Insurance, Bradford Hardware, and Citizens Bank.  Cora was always supporting her children by taking them wherever they needed to go.  She was a loving and caring christian lady.

Cora’s ancestors came from Glasgow, Scotland.  She was very proud of that fact and talked about it often.  Cora met William Bradford and they were married on April 12, 1978.  He was a loving husband and good to Cora and all of the family.  They were married for 21 years before he passed away in 1999.

She was a member of Browders Chapel Baptist Church and later in life became a member of Glasgow Baptist Church.  She loved her Sunday school class, teachers, members, and ministers.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and reading.  Cora enjoyed helping out at vacation bible schools and helping others.

Cora is survived by her 3 children: Joan (Jimmy) Ragle,  Harold (Diane) Williams, Harry Jr. (Patty) Williams;  6 grandchildren: Mark (Cathy) Parks, Melissa (Todd) Barbour, Michael Williams, Jennifer( Chris) Bybee, Jared Williams, and Justin Williams;  5 great-grandchildren: Alexis(Jordan) Pritchard, Hannah Barbour, Whitney Williams, Bailey(Dalton)Perry, and Kayla Parks; one great-great-grandson, Nathan Perry, due in Feb. 2025

Cora is also survived by one step-daughter, Janie Wilson;  3 step-grandchildren: A’lisa Cole (Larry), Shannon Wilson, and Andrea Wilson; 3 step-great-grandchildren: Andrew Cole, Lillie Cole, and Tigi Cole; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Gwen Edwards.

Cora was preceded in death by her 10 siblings: Herbert Edwards (Claudine), Owen Edwards  (Elizabeth), Clarence Edwards (Louise), Howard Edwards (Juanita), Frealin Edwards (Louise), Gladys Edwards, Candor Edwards, Lera Bishop (Mitchell), Edith Meriweather (Toby), and Roger Edwards;  parents-in-law, James C and Tippie Kinslow Williams; her sisters-in-law: Mary Tozier (Charles), Frances Knight (Russell), and Velma Sowers (Cecil);  and step son-in-law Jim Wilson.

Cora loved and appreciated the caregivers she had through the last few years:  Birdie Howerton, Jenene Scott, Pat Pedigo, Donna Edwards, Jannie Jessie, Jenny Lynn Thomas, Donna Matthews, and April Vaughn Decker. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Alternate expressions of sympathy are requested to be given to Glasgow Baptist Church.
