Jimmy “Skinner” Hughes

James Arthur Hughes (Jimmy / Skinner) of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away December 31, 2024 at TJ Samson Community Hospital. He was born October 30, 1946 in Hiseville, Kentucky to parents Arthur Samuel and Louie Borden Hughes. He was a 1964 graduate of Hiseville High School. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Barren County.

Jimmy was a valuable member of the farming and livestock dealing community. He was co-owner of Glasgow Livestock for many years. He never met a stranger and always had a helpful word of advice about cattle.

Jimmy is survived by Bonnie Bow Hughes, sons Jay Hughes (Cindy) of Morgantown and Jeff Hughes (Debra) of Glasgow. Grandchildren: Joel Hughes (Heather) of Fargo, ND, Ryan Hughes (Kate) of Austin, TX, Nathan Ross (Racheal) of Morgantown, Ky, Briar Neal (Aleece) of Elizabethtown, KY, Jonathon Zlater (Samatha) of Morgantown, KY, Tyler Hughes (Catherine) of

Glasgow, Ky , Andrew Hughes (Danielle) of Glasgow, Ky and Emma Hughes of Glasgow, KY. Great-grandchildren: Griffin, Marleigh, Hadley, Jackson, Maddie, Everly, Emelia, Ava, Lilly, Blake, Audrey, Harris, Harper, Collins, Oaklynn, and Roman.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Beatrice Firkin (husband Jude), Jewell Rigdon (husband Elmer), and Katherine London (husband Jack), brother Herschel (wife Jo), son Joel Lynn Hughes, and great-granddaughter Riley Anne Hughes.

Arrangements have been made with Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home Glasgow, Ky. Visitation will be Friday 2-8, Saturday 8-11, Funeral Services will be at 11 followed by graveside services at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, KY.
