Bernice Braboy Brown won her final victory over cancer when the Lord took her home late Sunday, April 30, 2017. Bernice was born in Trigg County, KY on July 14, 1940 to Boyce Taylor and Martha Terrell Braboy. She married Jesse Reide Brown September 6, 1961.
After graduation from Western Kentucky University, she became an educator, serving as librarian at Liberty Street Elementary and Glasgow High School, as well as teaching classes at WKU-Glasgow. Bernice also loved music, playing the piano and organ when younger and singing in the choir of Glasgow Baptist Church in recent years.
In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her in-laws, Jesse M. and Nancy Brown; an infant granddaughter, Erin Taylor Brown; and a brother-in-law, Marshall Gray.
Besides her husband of 55 years, Bernice is survived by one son, Keith, and his friend, Susie Stone, and one daughter Kim Overstreet and her husband Mark. Grandchildren Ben Brown (Shannan), Tyler Brown (Jessica Felts), Jessica Brown (Jacob Mansfield), Jake Overstreet, Katy Overstreet, and Nick Overstreet also survive. Great grandchildren are Connor, Lily, Liam, Jakob, and Dorian Brown. Other survivors include sisters, Virginia Gray and Janice Powell (Joe), brother-in-law A. B. Brown (Zona), several nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
We are eternally grateful to and thankful for the doctors and nurses at Vanderbilt Neurological ICC and Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Glasgow Baptist Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
