Ruby Gwendolyn “Gwen” Edwards passed away on March 2, 2025 in her sleep after a brief illness. She was born January 28, 1931 to the late Wallace Andrew Cole and Nellye Dossey Cole.
Gwen and her late husband, Candor Edwards, were married 45 years. They loved to travel and were members of Browders Chapel Baptist Church.
Gwen owned and operated the Sewing Machine Center in Glasgow for over 40 years. She delighted in serving and visiting with her loyal customers. Gwen enjoyed watching the Kentucky Wildcats play basketball on television. On a nice day, you would find her on her front porch reading her newspaper and visiting with her neighbors.
Gwen was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by a daughter, Leandra Harbison (Gary); a granddaughter, Autumn Harbison; two sisters, Carolyn Kirby and Wanda Massey; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Gwen was also predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Bridges.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
