Kay Hogue Spears passed away on Friday, February 7th, 2025 in Summer Shade, Kentucky surrounded by her family.
Kay was born on March 1st, 1956, the daughter of the late Rumsey Hogue Sr., and Wilma Coffey Hogue of Austin Tracy, Kentucky. She was a devoted woman of faith and possessed a loving Christian heart. She had a sweet soul and was caring toward everyone she met. She was a member at Westwood Church of Christ in Glasgow. Kay was retired from Barren County Schools.
Kay is survived by her son Joel Spears and his wife Kristy Spears of Summer Shade, Kentucky; four grandchildren that were the light of her life: Caleb Spears, Aaron Spears, Wyatt Spears, and Adalyn Spears, all of Summer Shade; her brother, Thomas Hogue and his wife Teresa Billingsley Hogue of Glasgow; her best friend and soul sister, Connie (John) Childress; her uncle Calvin Coffey and his wife Carol; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death my two brothers; Rumsey “R. J.” Hogue Jr. and Jeff Hogue.
Funeral services for Kay will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and continue Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
