March 2, 1938          ~          January 24, 2025

Mary Rush Stephens was born in Summer Shade, Kentucky on March 2, 1938. She departed this life on January 24, 2025, to join her loved ones in eternal peace.

Mary and her husband of 64 years, Jerry N Stephens, shared a life filled with adventure, residing in Kentucky, Georgia, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Florida, and Hoover, Alabama. Mary was an avid card player who always came away with a win at the last second, pretending it was by accident.
She was a devout Christian, beginning her faith journey at Beaumont Methodist Church in Summer Shade. A professional secretary during her working career, Mary dedicated her retirement to raising funds for Relay for Life at the Vanderbilt Country Club in Naples, Florida.

Mary is survived by her son Jerry M Stephens and his wife Sheila. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Elizabeth Stephens, Spencer Stephens, and his wife Jennifer. She adored her great-grandchildren, Anson Stephens and Corinne Stephens. She is also survived by her youngest brother Ancel “Butch” Rush, sisters-in-law Jolene Rush, Marine Rush, Suzanne Rush, and brother-in-law Wodson Hurt. Mary’s memory will be cherished by a dozen of the most successful nieces and nephews in the county and more than 30 great-nieces and nephews.

Mary was one of eight children born to Mayme Brooks Rush and Ralph Kenton Rush. Preceding her in death were sisters Patsy Rush, Lena Margaret Dickerson, Pansy Sue Romines and brothers Charles Rush, Talmadge “Tab” Rush, and Byron “Buddy” Rush.

A private graveside ceremony will be held for family members. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift to the charity of your choice is encouraged.
