Robert P. Gillespie, 84, Glasgow, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. A native of Cairo, Illinois, he was the son of the late William L. Gillespie and Jane Bartmess Gillespie.
Mr. Gillespie was a nurse anesthetist and had worked in numerous locations. He first received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Southeast Missouri State University followed by a Master of Science as well as PhD in Animal Breeding from the University of Missouri. He later received his RN diploma from Barnes Hospital School of Nursing followed by his CRNA from Washington University in St. Louis. He was a United States Army veteran; a member of the National Rifle Association; and an avid golfer and participant in target shooting.
Survivors include his wife Sue Peden Gillespie; one son, Robert Pell Gillespie II and one grandson Robbie Gillespie both of Sikeston, Missouri; three step-children: Emily Ogles (Lance), Micah Taylor, and Brian Taylor (Jan); one step-grandchild, Taylor Ogles; one brother, William Gillespie of Maine.
The family chose cremation with no services planned at the present time. Arrangements entrusted to Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
